Ellen Mahoney
SDC Life Coach

I spent my childhood on the East Coast of Central Florida and Alabama. I received my Bachelor of Latin American and Caribbean Studies from the University of Georgia, along with a minor in Spanish and certificates in Nonprofit Management and Music Business. As I started volunteering more with programs serving undocumented Latinx youth, I developed more of an interest in human rights, advocacy, and mental health.

After gaining some experience in the education and nonprofit fields, I decided to pursue a Master of Social Work online from the University of Central Florida, which I am currently enrolled in. Since starting at Self-Directed Care, I have been able to delve into my passion for mental health and wellness, which has developed as a result of both personal and professional experience. I have utilized complementary mental health approaches in my own recovery from depression and OCD since childhood. Supporting the success of others holds great therapeutic value for me as well, and I believe there is so much to learn about the world through our relationships with one another.

During my free time, I enjoy reading, listening to music, watching movies, and baking. I love nature, exploring my community, and traveling. I am a creative person who partakes in all types of artistic endeavors as well. I also speak Spanish as a second language.

My current hours of availability are:

 Wednesday 8am to 6pm, Thursday 8am to 6pm, and Friday 9am to 5pm
